Translations & Language Switching
🌐 The Guest App supports multiple languages to help guests use the app in the language they understand best. Languages can be selected by hotel staff in advance or switched by guests themselves within the app.
🛠️ Setting a Guest’s Preferred Language (Admin Panel)
-
Log in to the hotel management dashboard.

-
From the sidebar, click on "Guests" to view the guest management table.

-
Click the View or Edit icons on a guest row to open a popup with the guest details. In this popop you can control the guest language.

-
Use the "Language" dropdown to select the guest’s preferred language.

The next time this guest logs in, the Guest App will automatically appear in their selected language.

👤 Changing Language from the Guest App
Guests can also change their language anytime from within the app:
-
Click Reservation in the nav menu to go to the Reservation page.
-
Click on the currently selected language displayed at the top.
-
A list of available languages will appear. Tap the one you prefer.

-
The app will instantly reload in the selected language.

📱 Switching Language on the Tablet Room App
-
On the in-room tablet, open the Room Control App.
-
At the top of the screen, tap the Language Switcher in the header.

-
A list of available languages will appear.
-
Select the desired language from the list.

-
The entire Room Control App interface will update to reflect the selected language.

This feature ensures that international guests can navigate and control their room effortlessly, regardless of their native language.
📝 Translating Your Content
The app's own screens are already translated. The content your team writes needs its own translations, so guests can read it in their language:
| Content | Where to translate it | Translated fields |
|---|---|---|
| Guidebooks | Translations tab on the guidebook | Title, Description, and each section's Title, Body, and Call to action |
| Service Menus | Translations tab on the menu | Name and Description of the menu, categories, items, and modifier groups, plus each modifier's name |
| Upsells | Translations action on the upsell's row, in the table view | Title, Description |
| Announcements | Translations action on the announcement | Headline, Subtitle, Body, Button label |
| Services | Translations action on the service's row | Name |
See each guide for the steps: Guidebooks, Service Menus, Upsells, Announcements, and Services.
✨ How Translations Work
Every translation screen works the same way:
- Your English text is shown on the left, and the translation for the selected Language is on the right.
- Click Generate with MayaAI to translate every field into every supported language at once. You don't need to repeat it for each language.
- Edit any translation by typing in its Translation in field, then click Save. Click Undo to discard an edit you haven't saved yet.
- MayaAI never overwrites wording your team has edited. To let MayaAI translate a field again, clear the field and click Save.
Most content is also translated automatically when you create it or change its wording, so you usually only need to review the result. Guidebooks are the exception: they are translated when you save or publish them.
Content created before translations were available shows as Not translated. Open its translation screen and click Generate with MayaAI once to translate it.
Each translation shows a label:
| Label | Meaning |
|---|---|
| MayaAI | Written by MayaAI. |
| Edited | Written or changed by someone on your team. MayaAI won't replace it. |
| Not translated | No translation yet. Guests see the English text. |
| Base text changed | The English text changed after this translation was written. Review it, or generate again. |
Guests keep seeing a translation marked Base text changed until you update it. Review these after you change the English wording, or click Generate with MayaAI to refresh them.
🗣️ Supported Languages
Content can be translated into Arabic, Russian, Chinese, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Czech, and Maltese. This list is the same for every property.
When a guest's language has no translation for a field, the guest app shows your English text for that field.
Viewing translations needs the feature's view permission, for example View Guidebooks. Generating and editing translations needs its manage permission, for example Manage Guidebooks. For service menus, it's Edit Service Menu. For announcements, opening translations at all needs Manage Announcements.
